My Voice, God’s Voice

“22Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. 23For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24For,

‘All people are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25but the word of the Lord endures forever.’

And this is the word that was preached to you.” ~1 Peter 1

Music reels around
A cloud of mist in my head
And my soul wants to sing out
But I’m caged up without bread
What bread is fed to me
It is old and stale
But still I choke out the words
“I love You, Lord.
Why so caged up within me, oh my soul?
I will yet praise Him
My Lord and my God.”
This is my voice
Give rise to His Voice

Music reels around
A cloud of mist in my head
And my soul wants to sing out
But I’m depressed inside
Depressed because of my ruins
Ruined because of the fire I lit
But still I whisper the words
“I love You, Lord.
Why so depressed within me, oh my soul?
I will yet praise Him
My Lord and my God.”
This is my voice
Give rise to His Voice

Music reels around
A cloud of mist in my head
Ad my soul wants to sing out
But I’m saddened in my heart
My heart is heavy with what I’ve seen
I’ve seen so much yet so very little
But still I shout out the words
“I love You, Lord!
Why so sad within me, oh my soul?
I will yet praise Him!
My Lord and my God!
This cage is unlocked
Jesus is my full satisfaction!
The ruins are being built up
Jesus is my foundation!
What I have seen will pass away
Jesus makes all things new!
He has done so much!
He’ll do so much more!
This is my God!
I will yet praise Him!”

This is my voice
Give rise to His Voice

“1As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God.
2My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?
3My tears have been my food
day and night,
while people say to me all day long,

“Where is your God?”
4These things I remember
as I pour out my soul:
how I used to go to the house of God
under the protection of the Mighty One
with shouts of joy and praise
among the festive throng.

5Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.

6My soul is downcast within me;
therefore I will remember you
from the land of the Jordan,
the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.
7Deep calls to deep
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
have swept over me.

8By day the Lord directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.

9I say to God my Rock,
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning,
oppressed by the enemy?”
10My bones suffer mortal agony
as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”

11Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.” ~Psalm 42
