The Sound of Heaven

“1Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

5He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”” ~Revelation 21

I hear the songs of birds

That fill the air with beauty

And I feel the peace

Flow over me

And I think to myself

Is this what Heaven

Will sound like?

That place of beauty

That place of peace

That place of joy

There are no troubles

There are no tears

The old things

Would have passed far away

And best of all

Sin will have no place near me

Anxiety won’t be constantly

Whispering in my ear

And there’ll be Jesus

With a crown on His head

And I know joy

Will wash over me

Oh to wear a crown

On my forehead

To not keep for me

I’ll kneel down

And cast it down

At my Savior’s feet

My voice will lift up in song

Like that of these birds’ now

And I’ll ever praise my King

And after me

There’ll be angels–

Thousands and thousands–

To sing praises in glory

Oh, Glory to God!

Glory to Him!

As I hear the songs

Of God’s birds

That fill the air with beauty

And I feel God’s peace

Flow over me

I can’t help

But think to myself

Is this what Heaven,

What paradise with the King,

Will sound like?

“6Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. 8And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people. 9And they sang a new song, saying:

“You are worthy to take the scroll

and to open its seals,

because you were slain,

and with your blood you purchased for God

persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.

10You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,

and they will reign on the earth.”

11Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12In a loud voice they were saying:

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,

to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength

and honor and glory and praise!”

13Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:

“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb

be praise and honor and glory and power,

forever and ever!”

14The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.” ~ Revelation 5
