My Voice: But Keep Your Faith

3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” ~1 Peter 1

In the truth

Hold on

To promises

Time doesn’t change

His Words to dust

And the storm won’t

Wash goodness away

Have you some faith

You broken hearted

Your feelings might

Drown your heart

But keep your faith

You children

Your Father

Is still there

Holding on

The fire is raging

Burning your skin

The tears are falling

Letting smoke in

You cry out

“Lord, save me!”

But silence answers

Embers spin you around

Go you to the Word

Drink it up like wine

Like living water

Let it cool the burns

There you can see

What all this means

Your faith refined

To purest gold

Your life defined

By faithful hope

Yourself sanctified

To become as Christ

So believe

In truth

Hold on

To promises made

Time doesn’t change

His Words to dust

And the storm won’t

Wash goodness

Or faithfulness

Have you some faith

You broken hearted

Feelings drown your heart

But keep your faith

Child of God

Your Father is still there

Holding on

The fire is raging…

1Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath.  2Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint; heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.  3My soul is in deep anguish.  How long, Lord, how long?  4Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.  5Among the dead no one proclaims your name.  Who praises you from the grave?…  9The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer.” ~Psalm 6

16Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. 17Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.” ~James 1

6“I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.” ~Malachi 3

18God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. 19We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.” Hebrews 6
