Monday Christmas: Worship the King

The last Christmas post before Christmas!  Merry Christmas!

“9After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.” ~Matthew 2

I follow the Light

In the Heavens so bright

And it leads on to the place

Where my King rests His head

I am overjoyed

I can hardly contain it

My Lord is here

The one I’ve been seeking

The one who will rule

Eternally

.

I offer to Him

Riches fit for a King

Gold beyond measure

Not comparable to the riches of Heaven

Frankincense and myrrh

Not comparable to the prayers He smelled

In the courts in Heaven

But it is all the earth can give

To one so magnificent as He

The King of the Ages

The King of Glory

.

Yes, He is just a child

But worship He deserves

The Light led us straight to Him

In all its wisdom and majesty

And how much more is He?

Oh, that one day all might fall down

Worship the King of kings

But alas, it is not to be now

The Lord spoke to me

In a dream of the night

He warned of that fox Herod

Of people who want my King dead—

But the time of sacrifice is not now

So I take up my friends

I take up my things

And away I return to my land

Still rejoicing

For the Lord called me worthy

To kneel before my King

Provided a Light

To guide me in the Way

And I will await His coronation

I long for that Glorious Day

“16When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.” ~Matthew 2

“3Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. 4The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand.” ~Revelation 8

13“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man,a coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.” ~Daniel 7

“7So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice, 8do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, 9where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did. 10That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.’ 11So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ” ~Hebrews 3

“1The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. 2Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. 3But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins. 4It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

5Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:

“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,

but a body you prepared for me;

6with burnt offerings and sin offerings

you were not pleased.

7Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll—

I have come to do your will, my God.’ ”

8First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”—though they were offered in accordance with the law. 9Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second. 10And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. 14For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

15The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:

16“This is the covenant I will make with them

after that time, says the Lord.

I will put my laws in their hearts,

and I will write them on their minds.”

17Then he adds:

“Their sins and lawless acts

I will remember no more.”

18And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.” ~ Hebrews 10
