Sermon on the Mount: Rock and Sand

This is the end of the Sermon on the Mount series.  It has been very long but very enjoyable to go through, and I hope you were encouraged and learned a lot through it as I was.  If you have any suggestions about what I should write about next, either a passage, book, or topic, please feel free to comment below.  In any case, thanks for going the journey with me and I hope you’ll continue to join me as I meditate on the treasures of God’s word!

24“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” ~Matthew 7

I heard the words

I heard Your voice

I listened and I

Knelt down to pray

Today

Is a new day

Will I follow

All You have to say?

.

Built up

And the wind did blow

Built up

And the water did rise

.

I feel pride

It protects me on the outside

I feel like

I need to tear you down

In my anger

‘You deserve so much better’

The world tells me

Follow after

Clothes, food, enjoyment of life

And I feel so anxious all the time

But I

.

I heard the words

I heard Your voice

I listened and I

Knelt down to pray

Today

Is a new day

Will I follow

All You have to say?

.

Built up

And the wind did blow

Built up

And the water did rise

.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

Neither are your ways my ways,”

Declares the LORD

For the foolishness of God is

Wiser than man’s wisdom,

And the weakness of God is

Stronger than man’s strength

On what shall I build on?

Sand or the rock?

.

Need I protect myself with pride?

Should I clothe myself in humility?

Whom do I serve?

Man or God?

.

Built up on the sand

The wind did blow it over

Built up on the rock

The water did rise up

And did no damage

It’s the same storm

With two different results

It’s the same storm

.

I heard the words

I heard Your voice

I listened and I

Knelt down to pray

Today

Is a new day

Will I follow

All You have to say?

~

(Isaiah 55:8)

(1 Corinthians 1:25)

Sermon on the Mount: The True and the False

21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ ~Matthew 7

There will come a day

When all lies are washed away

Hearts of gold and hearts all black

Revealed at once in the Savior’s hand

.

‘Come to Me

All heavy laden’

‘Depart from Me

I never knew you’

.

There are those who

Have worn the sheep skin

They do miracles and wonders

In His Name

They prophesy ‘Peace, peace, peace’

When peace is nowhere to be found

And He’ll say

‘Depart from Me

I never knew you.’

.

‘Depart from Me

I never knew you.’

.

There are those who

Have struggled through life

Clinging to God

As their rock in the storm—

‘Come to Me

All heavy laden.’

They tell the truth even when it will hurt them

And they cry obey Him

When the time is here

And He’ll say,

‘Come, you who are blessed

Take the inheritance long prepared for you.’

.

‘Come, you who are blessed

Take the inheritance long prepared for you.’

~

34“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ ~Matthew 25

‘From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit. 11They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. “Peace, peace,” they say, when there is no peace. 12Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when they are punished, says the Lord.’ ~Jeremiah 8

‘10Dressed in their royal robes, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting on their thrones at the threshing floor by the entrance of the gate of Samaria, with all the prophets prophesying before them. 11Now Zedekiah son of Kenaanah had made iron horns and he declared, “This is what the Lord says: ‘With these you will gore the Arameans until they are destroyed.’ ”

12All the other prophets were prophesying the same thing. “Attack Ramoth Gilead and be victorious,” they said, “for the Lord will give it into the king’s hand.”

13The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, “Look, the other prophets without exception are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs, and speak favorably.”

14But Micaiah said, “As surely as the Lord lives, I can tell him only what the Lord tells me.”

15When he arrived, the king asked him, “Micaiah, shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or not?”

“Attack and be victorious,” he answered, “for the Lord will give it into the king’s hand.”

16The king said to him, “How many times must I make you swear to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord?”

17Then Micaiah answered, “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd, and the Lord said, ‘These people have no master. Let each one go home in peace.’ ”

18The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he never prophesies anything good about me, but only bad?”…24Then Zedekiah son of Kenaanah went up and slapped Micaiah in the face. “Which way did the spirit from the Lord go when he went from me to speak to you?” he asked.

25Micaiah replied, “You will find out on the day you go to hide in an inner room.”

26The king of Israel then ordered, “Take Micaiah and send him back to Amon the ruler of the city and to Joash the king’s son 27and say, ‘This is what the king says: Put this fellow in prison and give him nothing but bread and water until I return safely.’ ”

28Micaiah declared, “If you ever return safely, the Lord has not spoken through me.” Then he added, “Mark my words, all you people!” ~1 Kings 22

Sermon on the Mount: False Teachers

(Sorry this is a day late, but I hope you are still able to share in this today. Better late than never, right?)

15“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.” ~Matthew 7

Patterns all over

The face of the earth

Serpents with forked tongues

Make gods out of men

And fear allows them to

Make gold into a glorious

Cow

To worship

.

What is this pattern?

What is the trend?

Swell up our human hearts

Let us hear what we want to hear

Either because of fear

Or for gain

.

There is a pattern

For false teacher to take

They call out ‘Thus says the Lord’

And the weak and the lost

Find solace in those arms

They find they aren’t so bad

That God is too loving

God is not mad

.

What is this pattern?

What is the trend?

Swell up our human hearts

Let us hear what we want to hear

When we are vulnerable

When they can gain

.

By their fruit

You will know them

Yet why is it still so hard

To see them?

You hear words

You see actions perhaps

Lay it all against the Word

Examine the Scriptures

Every day

You will know them

By their fruit

~

‘4“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5“For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

6When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.’ ~Genesis 3

‘1When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.”

2Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.” 3So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. 4He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”

5When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, “Tomorrow there will be a festival to the Lord.” 6So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings. Afterward they sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.’ ~Exodus 32

‘1The word of the Lord came to me: 2“Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination: ‘Hear the word of the Lord! 3This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to the foolisha prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! 4Your prophets, Israel, are like jackals among ruins. 5You have not gone up to the breaches in the wall to repair it for the people of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the Lord. 6Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. Even though the Lord has not sent them, they say, “The Lord declares,” and expect him to fulfill their words. 7Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, “The Lord declares,” though I have not spoken?’ ~Ezekiel 13

“17These people are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. 18For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. 19They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.” ~ 2 Peter 2

Sermon on the Mount: Road to Heaven

13“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” ~Matthew 7

There is only one way

To Heaven

There is only one path

You can take

Do you know His Name?

Do you love Him with

All of you?

Straight is the path

And narrow the way

Into His hand

.

And there is

A road

Much wider I’m told

It leads to a place

Of tolerance

For every face

No one is condemned

No one is a sinner here

Just one big happy family

Pouring into eternity–

If you believe there is one

.

Wide is the road

Wide is the gate

That leads to destruction

It pours out lies

It pours out deceit

And many fail to see it

See it for what it really is

.

Into His hand

The way is narrow

And the path is straight

With all of yourself

Do you love Him?

Do you know His Name?

You can take

Only one path

To Heaven

There is only one way

He is Jesus Christ

~

Psalm 16:11

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Isaiah 35:8

And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it.

1 John 4:15

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.

Matthew 22:37-38

Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.

Meditation:

Sermon on the Mount: Remember Love

Christ Love is Real.  So Really Love.

7“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 9Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” ~Matthew 7

Do not forget what has been taught you

The goodness of the LORD is upon you

The strength of His love overpowers you

Do not forget what has been done for you

.

A prayer in the heart

The Lord is infinitely good

A prayer on the tongue

He plans the good of His people,

The glory of His Name

Let it be

He puts to justice murderers

And extends the arm of love

He puts to justice the thief

And gives abundantly to those He loves

Bring it out

You need to speak it

He tears down the strongholds of the proud

And builds up the fortress of the humble

You need to ask it

The Good Lord does not spurn the request

But provides what is needed, and very much more!

Seek ,seek

Seek it

The Lord knows what is good and right

It is time to knock, knock

At the door

He overflows with righteousness

.

And from this remember

He does the same for your sisters and brothers

And from this remember

We all were like our lost sisters and brothers

As God extended the hand of mercy

So extend your hand

As God extended the arm of love

So extend your arm

Obey Him out of deep love for Him

As He deeply loves you

Obedience to Him is love of others

So deeply love them

Remember what has been taught you

So deeply love

~

9“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” ~John 15

Matthew 5:17

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

Matthew 22:40

All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

Romans 13:8

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.

Romans 13:10

Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Galatians 5:14

For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.

James 2:8

If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right.

Sermon on the Mount: Abundant

Heart beats heart beat

A prayer on the tongue

Let it be

Bring it out

You need to speak it

You need to ask it

Seek ,seek

It is time to knock, knock

At the door

A man is desperately wicked

Planning schemes of harm in his heart

He murders daily

With the weapon of hate

He steals constantly

With the lust of his eyes

He lies in wait

And tears down with his tongue

And yet his son comes to him

And asks for bread

And wicked man does not give him nothing

But provides what is needed

Wicked man knows even so

What is good

He knows it deep down

.

The Lord is infinitely good

He plans the good of His people,

The glory of His Name

He puts to justice murderers

And extends the arm of love

He puts to justice the thief

And gives abundantly to those He loves

He tears down the strongholds of the proud

And builds up the fortress of the humble

And when His own asks for bread

The Good Lord does not spurn the request

But provides what is needed, and very much more!

The Lord knows what is good and right

He overflows with righteousness

At the door

It is time to knock, knock

Seek it,

Seek, seek

You need to ask it

You need to speak it

Bring it out

If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Romans 8:32

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

James 1:17

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Psalm 84:11

For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.

Isaiah 63:7

I will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us– yes, the many good things he has done for Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses.

Sermon on the Mount: Ask, Seek, Knock

7“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 9Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” ~Matthew 7

Is it worth the pursuing?

You know what you need—

Is it worth the having?

Oh, seek seek Him out

He knows so much more

Than you could dream of

Seek seek Him out

He’s worth it

He’s worth it

.

Knock:

You’ve reached the door

You’ve asked for

You’ve reached the door

You sought out

Now it is time

To give it a knock, knock

Will He open it

Will He not, not?

The LORD always answers

He longs to give all that is good

The LORD always answers

It is time to knock, knock

1 John 3:

19This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: 20If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. 21Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. 23And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

Luke 11:

5Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; 6a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’ 7And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ 8I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacitye he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.

1 John 5:14

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

James 1:5

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

Matthew 18:19

“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.

Psalm 34:4

I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

Psalm 37:4

Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Isaiah 30:19

People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you.

Jeremiah 29:13

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Sermon on the Mount: Wisdom

“6Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.” ~Matthew 7

You who are wise

Lift up my head

You who see clearly

Speak out

From your discipline

I will find the straight way

Rebuke me now, I pray

So I may see your wisdom

In the day

.

Precious

Holy

Are the pearls

You give me

.

If I see the foolish man

Let me not speak as he does

If I see the foolish man

Let me not do as he does

Foolishness is an epidemic

Let it flee

From me

.

“Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him.”

.

If I am faced

With the foolish

Should I speak the truth?

Will he hear

The words I am speaking?

Or will he tear me down

Down?

Will he tear me down?

.

“Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you.”

“Do not speak to fools, for they will scorn your prudent words.”

.

If I am shown

The foolish within me

I will consider you as sacred

If I am shown

The foolish within me

I will consider it as fine gold

.

“Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear.”

“Let a righteous man strike me—that is a kindness; let him rebuke me—that is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it, for my prayer will still be against the deeds of evildoers.”

.

If I find the foolish within me

May I consider your ways

If I find the foolish within me

May I love your words

Transform me

Correct me

From wisdom’s tree

I will feed

.

“Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.

She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.

Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.

Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace.

She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.”

Sermon on the Mount: In the Eye

1“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. 6Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.” ~Matthew 7

Rubbing at your eye

Something hurting there

You look in the mirror

All you can see is red

Pink and bleary

Nothing much to see when you stare

Something is hurting there

In your eye

.

Judging by what I can see

You’ve got a speck of

A little bit of me

I judged you often for your weakness

And my plank poked you right

Right in the eye

Your faith is different than mine

I’m sorry I irritated you

With that speck

Judgment is clouding you, I see

.

Christ came you know

To die for you

Die for me

To make us the Lord’s

We’re servants, you and me

So why do we judge one another?

We should be in unity

Let all we do bring thanks

We should be in harmony

Not judging what is temporal

In you and me

We are the Lord’s

By the Savior

Of you and me

That’s why Christ came you know

~

Romans 14 and part of 15(emphasis added):

1Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. 2One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.

5One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. 6Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. 8If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

10You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. 11It is written:

“ ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,

‘every knee will bow before me;

every tongue will acknowledge God.’ ”

12So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

13Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. 14I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. 15If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died. 16Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. 17For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.

19Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.

22So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves. 23But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

1We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. 3For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” 4For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

5May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

7Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

Sermon on the Mount: Blindness

Each of us longs for it

To be taken by the hand

Led away like sheep.

The path is always shrouded in darkness—

Oh, if only someone would tell me

The direction I am to go!

~

Each of us has it

The pride we have that we

We are the center of this universe.

We take someone by the hand and say

“Follow me through this dark place

I’ve passed it before, I’ll lead you in the right way.”

~

In the end it is a long string of the blind leading blind

And none see the chasm—each fall down.

~

Measure up! Measure up!

Who is to blame?

That one drinks, another over thinks.

That one keeps to himself too much

The other controls not his tongue.

This one is too complying

And that one judges too much.

You are too full of anger to be regarded well

And I am too sensitive to be taken seriously.

And yet in the end who is to blame?

What measure can measure the wrongness of who we are?

I’m sure your fault outweighs my own—

This isn’t my fault.

~

Blind leads blind

Straight to the Judgment Seat

And the LORD opens His Book

And the LORD sees

All the failures matched up

In each of us—

What law have I not broken?

What have you not kept?

The LORD sees

The LORD measures

The LORD judges.

~

We will each receive what we have sown.

So sow what is right, brother.

Let me speak when I see you falling

And let you speak when you see it in me.

In the truth is the LORD pleased.

Let Him lead us in the straight and narrow way—

He alone, after all, can truly see.

~

Luke 6:37-42

37“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

39He also told them this parable: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.

41“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 42How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

1 John 5:16a

16If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life.

1 Corinthians 5

12What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13God will judge those outside. Expel the wicked person from among you.”

John 8:7

When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”

Romans 2:1

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.

Romans 14:10

You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.

Romans 14:13

Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.

1 Corinthians 4:5

Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.

James 4:11

Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.
