Meditate On the Glory

MEDITATION: 2 CHRONICLES 36, EZRA 1

The LORD God is faithful. He will not leave His people abandoned for He loves them. When His Name is defiled, He removes it from the people and removes the people from the promise. But His wrath will not last forever. His promise will rest and await the fulfillment of promise (the land rested from the wickedness for seventy years. And every Sabbath during that time was honored). Always there is a remnant that He will draw back to Himself. He Himself stirs in them His spirit that they may honor Him and desire to return to His promise and rebuild His glory. And when they are faithful, they are given all they need.

Oh, Faithful Ones,

Where is your spirit?

Oh, Righteous Ones,

Where is your God?

We are the temple

In us is the Name

So honor Him

He will be faithful

So honor Him

You will see Him

The promise is coming

Do not be afraid

.

Oh, Chosen Ones,

What is your gift?

Oh, Glorious Ones,

Where are your eyes?

We are the temple

In us is the Name

So praise Him

He has stirred you to this

So praise Him

You will know Him

When He comes to you waiting

Waiting for the promise

Do not be afraid

~

2 Corinthians 3:12, 16-18

“12Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold… 16But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

Joshua 1

“8Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Deuteronomy 31

“’6Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.’

“7Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, ‘Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance. 8The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.’”

Isaiah 41:10

“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

2 Chronicles 15

“1The Spirit of God came on Azariah son of Oded. 2He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. 3For a long time Israel was without the true God, without a priest to teach and without the law. 4But in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him, and he was found by them. 5In those days it was not safe to travel about, for all the inhabitants of the lands were in great turmoil. 6One nation was being crushed by another and one city by another, because God was troubling them with every kind of distress. 7But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.’

“8When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Azariah son of Oded the prophet, he took courage. He removed the detestable idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin and from the towns he had captured in the hills of Ephraim. He repaired the altar of the Lord that was in front of the portico of the Lord’s temple.”

The Faithful

I met a young man the other day

Who’s heart was big and his mind bigger

But the world had crushed him

His lack of comradeship  bruised him

And all the sorrows he’d faced

That had in the end made him so bitter

Had blinded him to his need

Helped him believe in a lie

.

It’s the lie we so willingly believe

As sinners we are never to blame

It’s always the family that never listens

My unappreciative job

It’s the fact that no one notices me

Or my personality

And so I’m never offered love

That’s why I am the way I am

And you can’t blame me

Until my life changes I’ll be miserable

If only

If only

If only

.

My heart bled for this young man

Who thought the answer was to get a wife

He was so lonely, so hurting

So blinded by the lie

But I knew the truth

I knew what he needed

He needed to confess his sins to Jesus

And let God take the reins

Let God take over

Let God take care of him

He needed the LORD

.

But did I speak?

Did I say a word of truth?

No, I was too afraid

I was afraid of how silly it would sound

I was afraid of what others might think

And how could I pretend to know

What God wanted to do?

But I knew it, I knew

God wanted me to speak

And when the opportunity left

When he walked away

I felt the shame fill me

I am not part of the faithful

.

So now I pray for him, this young man

And pray that the next Child will not be afraid

Will not be selfish and keep the truth away

Will not keep away the joy found in the LORD that day

I pray that God will forgive me

Will help me to be faithful to Him

For He forgives

And He is Faithful

And He is my Father

And I want to share Him with others

Let them know this joy of the LORD

I want to share Him

I hope you do too

.

LORD God in Your mercy

Bring this son of yours home

LORD God in Your mercy

Teach me the way of the Faithful

16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”~ John 3

26“So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. 27What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.b 30And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

32“Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.” ~Matthew 10

“11Here is a trustworthy saying:

If we died with him,

we will also live with him;

12if we endure,

we will also reign with him.

If we disown him,

he will also disown us;

13if we are faithless,

he remains faithful,

for he cannot disown himself.” ~2 Timothy 2

Sermon on the Mount: Faithful Marriage

31“It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’ 32But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.” ~Matthew 5

Is not marriage

The Holy Covenant?

A picture of

The sweet relationship

Between God and His own?

It is a union

Two become one.

A living sacrifice

One to another.

It is an honoring

A deep respect

An enduring hope

That will last until the end.

.

Who heard of a wife denying

She ever had a husband?

And what of the husband

Forsaking his wife?

Has the Lord denied His bride

When she sins against Him

So many times?

Has He cut her off?

She has been faithless

Perhaps on occasion

We are all of us sinners

Yet He is faithful

For He is God

And become one with His own

He cannot deny Himself

How should the husband be

With the one he has sworn

To love

To protect?

.

Will not what is real

Last until the end?

Endure in hope.

Sow deep respect.

Honor one another.

One to another

Live as a sacrifice.

Two become one

A unity of truth.

Husband and wife

Are as God and His own

A sweet relationship

A picture.

This is the Holy Covenant.

This is marriage.

“3Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”

4“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’a 5and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ ? 6So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

7“Why then,” they asked, “did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?”

8Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” ~Matthew 19

.

“The saying is trustworthy, for:

If we have died with him, we will also live with him;

12 if we endure, we will also reign with him;

if we deny him, he also will deny us;

13if we are faithless, he remains faithful—

for he cannot deny himself.” ~2 Timothy 2

.

Malachi 2:16

“The man who hates and divorces his wife,” says the LORD, the God of Israel, “does violence to the one he should protect,” says the LORD Almighty. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful.”

.

“21Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

22Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26to make her holy, cleansingb her by the washing with water through the word, 27and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30for we are members of his body. 31“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” ~Ephesians 5

Declare God’s Faithfulness

“5The heavens praise your wonders, Lord,
your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.

6For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord?
Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings?

7In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared;
he is more awesome than all who surround him.

8Who is like you, Lord God Almighty?
You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.” ~Psalm 89

The sky grey
The sky blue
The sky black and glittering with stars
Shining moonlight in the heavens
The sky grey
The sky blue
The sky smeared with dazzling colors
The bright sun in the heavens
They all declare the glory of God
Will the sky be there on the morrow?
Will it utterly fall away?
Yet we do not fear
It is faithfully there
Declaring the faithfulness of the Lord
Declaring the glory of God

And the angels who watch us
They are there in the sky
The being that cause humans to tremble
Who raise swords of fire
And stand in the very presence of the LORD–
They, it is true, are holy
But they do not compare to our God
They, even they, must cover their faces
Even they tremble in His presence
And they ever sing to God praise
They ever glorify the King of Kings
They sing of the Lord’s faithfulness
To all generations
Hallelujah!
And Amen!

I will sing
Of the Lord
He is faithful
He is good
I will sing
Of the Lord
He is loving
He is true
~

“1In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

4At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.” ~Isaiah 6

10But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” ~Luke 2

“2At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. 4Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. 5From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. 6Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.

In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. 7The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. 8Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:

“ ‘Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,’
who was, and is, and is to come.”

9Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:

11“You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.” ~Revelation 4

Meditation on Christmas: Faithful Joseph

18This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

20But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

22All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

24When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus. Matthew 1

Be you a faithful one
Joseph, Joseph
Be you honorable and kind
Pledged to be married
Yet finding your wife
To be with child
You had every right
To publically disgrace her
To stone her to death
You didn’t want it to be done
You were faithful
And kind

Come now to Joseph
Angel come in a dream
Tell this man the plan of the Lord
Who is this child
Within sweet Mary?
He is of the Holy Spirit
Sent of God
He is to be called Jesus
For He will save His people
Save them from their many sins

Be you a faithful one
Joseph, Joseph
Be you honorable and kind
You heard the word
Of the Lord
And you obeyed it through to the end
You took Mary as your own
And gave the child a name
Jesus
For He would save the people
Save them from their many sins
To you the Lord entrusted this to
To protect His child as He grew
Oh you were faithful
Joseph
You were honorable
You were faithful

~

’13When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”
14So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, 15where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.”’ ~Matthew 2

“20But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
22Be merciful to those who doubt; 23save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.” ~Jude

Meditation on Christmas: The angel

26In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

29Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

34“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
35The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be calledb the Son of God. 36Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37For no word from God will ever fail.”

38“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. (Luke 1)

Why was Mary troubled
To hear that the Lord favored her?
Why was she perplexed?
Could it be that she knew the stories
Of God’s angels come
Who proclaimed things
Impossible for mankind?
The angel came to Gideon
And told him that he was strong
Although he was very weak
For he would deliver Israel
In the strength of the LORD
The angel came to Mary
And said she would give birth to a son
Although she was a virgin
The child would be given through the Spirit
For God can do the impossible
What He says will always come about
No matter what happens
Or who is involved
God is always
God

11The angel of the Lord came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. 12When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”

13“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”

14The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”

15“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”

16The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.” ~ Judges 6

My Holy Holy Holy Lord

My Rock, oh Lord,

You are my firm ground

My faithful God

In You, I pray, will I trust

Your holiness

Fills the air everywhere

Holiness

That I long to embrace

Terror I have

When forced to face Your throne

In You I do trust

With You I cannot falter

But still You

Are so holy

And I am so dirty

I hear the Saraphim sing

“Holy Holy Holy”

And I feel my heart

It withers inside me

I cannot live on

So sinful is Your servant, Lord

My mouth is unclean

And Your people care so little

Woe is me!

I am undone!

But Holy Holy Holy

The Lord Almighty nods

I do not see what goes on

I am prostrate before the Lord

The Seraphim lifts my head

And a white, hot, holy coal

This he places on my mouth

This cleans my lips

This burns me to no more evil words

This blessing from the Lord

“Holy Holy Holy!”

He is my firm foundation

He is who I will trust

In Him was I created

He can destroy me

He will not forsake me

His perfect plan will not fail

Let my mouth be filled with

Praises for my loving,

Terrifying,

Holy Holy Holy Lord

Amen!

“1In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2Above it stood the seraphim: each one had six wings; with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he did fly.
3And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4And the posts of the door were shaken at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
6Then flew one of the seraphim unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.” ~Isaiah 6

“7The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. 8The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. 9The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous. 10They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb. 11By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
12But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults. 13Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
14May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” ~Psalm 19

My Everything, My All in all

Wickedness.

I felt it breeding in my heart as I fell deeper and deeper into bad habits.

What did I fill my time with?

The laziness the world had to offer me.

What did I run to when depression or fear overtook my heart?

I ran to worldly pleasures, seeking for the ugly feelings to be drowned out by nothingness.

And as I gave into the laziness to be guide through life, I felt an ugliness in my heart.

And I could not give it a name.

No, I would not give it its name.

But still I hated to feel its ugly head of shame inside of me.

One evening I read the bible.

Because I knew I ought to.

And in my head came the reference, “Psalm 36”.

And so I turned to it, not knowing what to expect.

And this is what the LORD showed me.

“An oracle is within my heart
Concerning the sinfulness of the wicked:
There is no fear of God
Before his eyes.
For in his own eyes he flatters himself
Too much to detect or hate his sin.
The words of his mouth are wicked and deceitful;
He has ceased to be wise and to do good.
Even on his bed he plots evil;
He commits himself to a sinful course
And des not reject what is wrong.

“Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens
Your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
Your justice like the great deep.
O LORD, You preserve both man and beast.
How priceless is Your unfailing love!
Both high and low,
Men find refuge in the shadow of Your wings.
They feast on the abundance of Your house;
You give them drink from Your river of delights.
For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.

Continue Your love to those who know You,
Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
May the foot of the proud not come against me,
Nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
See how the evildoers lie fallen–
Thrown down,
Not able to rise!”

I have become wicked.

A fool, unable to do good.

But the LORD

He is faithful

And good

And righteous

And just

He will not abandon His people

Those who turn to Him as a refuge for help

I have filled my head with worldliness

With emptiness

With nothingness.

I want to be filled with abundance

A river of delights

Surrounded by the wings

Of the LORD

I want to be filled with Him

My Everything

My All in all.
