Proverbs: Wisdom Is Part 2

“13Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, 14for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. 15She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. 16Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. 17Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. 18She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.” ~Proverbs 3

Oh to be the apple of His eye

The child of the Living God—

To fear the Lord

To seek after His righteousness

To cling to my Father

In every way

Every day

.

Oh that I would fear my God

And gain Wisdom!

All around me is death and hatred

Paths of uncertainty and violence

There is no peace

There is no love

Although we seek it with all our hearts

Our hearts remain darkened against it

And I am just the same

Oh that I would fear God

And gain Wisdom!

.

For to fear God

Is to know God

And to know God is to know Christ

And Eternal Life

The world becomes void when compared to His beauty!

I put my trust in the One the Father sent

And I am not condemned

But loved

His path is not hateful

But peaceful and loving

Although full of the truth of the Living God

To know Christ

Is to fear God

Is to have Wisdom

.

There is Life in Wisdom’s right hand

Riches and honor in her left

Behold the Lion of Judah—

The slaughtered Lamb is worthy

Of all our praises!

.

John 17:21

that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

John 17:23

I in them and You in Me–that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.

John 17:25

Righteous Father, although the world has not known You, I know You, and they know that You sent Me.

Philippians 3:8

More than that, I count all things as loss compared to the surpassing excellence of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ

Philippians 3:10

I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to Him in His death,

Proverbs: Wisdom Is Part 1

Every day

.

I found the fear of God

Wisdom that encircles me

Wealth that had been mine

It did not save me

Nor did it care who I was

But to fear the Lord

To have wisdom at my side

I am known

Better than I know Him

And I am cared for

More than I could ever do for myself

Wisdom is worth more

Than all the riches of the world

.

Ecclesiastes 7:12

For wisdom is protection just as money is protection, But the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the lives of its possessors.

Psalm 119:165

Those who love Your law have great peace, And nothing causes them to stumble.

Job 28 (portions)

“12But where can wisdom be found? Where does understanding dwell? 13No mortal comprehends its worth; it cannot be found in the land of the living. 14The deep says, “It is not in me”; the sea says, “It is not with me.” 15It cannot be bought with the finest gold, nor can its price be weighed out in silver… 23God understands the way to it and he alone knows where it dwells, 24for he views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens. 25When he established the force of the wind and measured out the waters, 26when he made a decree for the rain and a path for the thunderstorm, 27then he looked at wisdom and appraised it; he confirmed it and tested it. 28And he said to the human race, “The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.”

Proverbs: Seek the LORD

“33but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm. 1My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, 2turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—3indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, 4and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, 5then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. 6For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, 8for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.” ~Proverbs 1-2

Servant

Of the LORD

You who are greatly loved

His hand is over you

His wings are overshadowing you

Nothing have you to fear

Nothing have you to dread

The LORD is at hand

.

The sweet path of life

Is the path you tread

Seek it out,

Seek it out

You will find great treasure

You will find great reward

When

You seek Him with all of Your heart

.

Seek wisdom

Seek understanding

Seek out the LORD

The fear of the LORD

What great treasure is this—

We get to fear Him!

Hallelujah!

Fear the LORD!

.

For

“7The law of the Lord is perfect,

Reviving the soul;

The testimony of the Lord is sure,

Making wise the simple;

8The precepts of the Lord are right,

Rejoicing the heart;

The commandment of the Lord is pure,

Enlightening the eyes;

9The fear of the Lord is clean,

Enduring forever;

The rules of the Lord are true,

And righteous altogether.

10More to be desired are they than gold,

Even much fine gold;

Sweeter also than honey

And drippings of the honeycomb.

11Moreover, by them is Your servant warned;

In keeping them there is great reward.” ~Psalm 19

“11For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.” ~Jeremiah 29

“5The Lord is exalted, for he dwells on high; he will fill Zion with justice and righteousness, 6and he will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is Zion’s treasure.” ~Isaiah 33

Psalm 112:7

He will not fear evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.

Ecclesiastes 8:12

Although a sinner does evil a hundred times and may lengthen his life, still I know that it will be well for those who fear God, who fear Him openly.

Psalm 90:12

So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.

1 Kings 3:9

“So give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”

Matthew 13:44

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and in his joy he went and sold all he had and bought that field.

Proverbs 8:17

“I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me.

Proverbs: Seek

The next series I will be going through is Proverbs.  I hope you’ll join me on this journey, to learn what it is to fear the Lord and gain wisdom!

“1The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:

2for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight; 3for receiving instruction in prudent behavior, doing what is right and just and fair; 4for giving prudence to those who are simple, knowledge and discretion to the young—5let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance—6for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise.

7The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” ~Proverbs 1

Seek out the Lord

Seek out His Ways of Life

Seek out the Lord

Seek out the Ways of Life

.

Oh that I would be wise

That my heart would not

Never despise instruction

That when advice was given

And discipline offered

I would not turn away

That I would not respond with scorn!

Simple minded

Is the way I prefer

Is the way I am

.

Seek out the Lord

Seek out His Ways of Life

Seek out the Lord

Seek out the Ways of Life

.

Oh to understand His Words

Spoken to me in this Book

To understand what He says

And see what He sends

That I would fear Him

And seek after what is right

That I would fear Him

And obey all that He commands

Reveal Lord all I don’t understand

I am simple minded

And I hate the spiritual things

Please Lord

Help me

My Dragon

The dragon’s eye
Looked deep into mine
A heart of gold
I saw there
Mountains of riches
And spirit of fire
A creature of glory
Warrior of valor

I stared deep
Into his eyes
I saw a land
Worth dying for
I long to be there
To dance in the beauty
But I know
I am so unworthy
So unholy

The dragon’s eye
Stared deep into mine
I fear to think
What he saw there
Darkness within
And a barren wasteland
Filled with the cravings
Of a fool
Filled with the excuses of a coward
So unworthy
So unholy
Not worth dying for

His mouth opened wide
He breathed in deep
I knew my just judgment
Was upon me
Somehow to die
By such a being
Was an honor in and of itself
Though I was going to die
For all the wickedness I’d committed
I knew I deserved
The fire

He blew out a breath
Of hot steam
That fell on me
In rainbows
And my eyes were opened
And I saw again
In his glorious eyes
The land of glory
But this time
I saw the true treasure
I saw the King
My eyes have seen
The King
Clothed in rainbows
A living fire within
His pierced hands
Of mercy
His lips of truth
His eyes of forgiveness
And His mighty strength
His goodness
Holiness
His justice
And unfailing love

He beckoned with a
Royal hand
“Come,” He said
“To the Promised Land
I have given you My Spirit
A Spirit of fire
And valor
With these pierced hands
Of mercy
I’ve pierced your sins
With these lips of truth
I have made it known
With My eyes of forgiveness
I’ve looked on you
My child
My worthy child
My holy child
I’ve given you Me
I’ve given you peace.”

And so
With a bow of my head,
I turn from myself
And enter the world again
Always to worship in the
Cave of the Blessed One
I go to the world
Proclaim the Good News
With the strength He’s given
Strength of a thousand dragons
With this vision always before me:
A land of beauty
Of peace
Of glory
And thanksgiving
And the daily bending of the knee
And casting down our golden crowns
And filling our holy mouths
With praises
To our King
Whom we approach with confidence
And with boldness
And truth
To see Him fully and completely
For all eternity

“And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I lam making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” 6 And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. 7 The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and she will be my son. 8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” ~Revelation 21

“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” ~2 Timothy 1

“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”” ~Matthew 28

“And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say,

“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,
who was and is and is to come!”

9 And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.” ~Revelation 4

My Rollercoaster Ride

My heart
Thump, thump, thumping
In my chest
Panic swirling sickly
In my gut
I didn’t want to move forward
I didn’t want to sit down
But I was surrounded
Urged forward
By people close to me
So I moved forward
I sat down
And I waited

It is good sometimes
To try something new
It is good all the time
To do what you have to do
It is good to have support
To be encouraged and strengthened
By your fellow man
But after they’ve been tested in their words
Live what you know to be right

The bar fell down
Onto my lap
I was trapped inside
Then forward I was forced to move
Forward
Fast, fast, faster still
Dragged upward
Dragged outward
And then made to sickeningly drop
Downward at a pace
Unnatural to mankind
I clenched my eyes and screamed
What else could I do?
I prayed to the Lord
“Please God, let it be no more!”

Sometimes fear
It is something to be ignored
To not take control of decisions
Or of living life
Sometimes there is little choice
But to move on through the storm
But you are never helpless
Just pray, pray, pray
To the LORD

He got me through to the end
I was so glad to be on
Hard, cold, real,
Solid ground once more
If I’d gotten the notion
I would have gladly
Kissed the ground beneath my feet
I’ll never ride it again
No matter what the expectations are
~
Romans 15
1We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. 3For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” 4For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.
5May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
~
Hebrews 13:5-6
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
~
Psalm 26:12
My feet stand on level ground;
in the great congregation I will praise the Lord.

My Inspiration: Revelation 3:20

I opened my eyes, blinking in confusion. How long had I been sleeping? I wondered. It felt like it’d been– forever.

My eyes wandered around the room, but there really wasn’t much to see. In fact there was almost nothing to see. The room was pitch black, a blackness that only seemed to get thicker the more I tried to peer through it. But there was one exception. Small streams of light were poking through the cracks in a door at the far end of the room.

Funny, I didn’t remember a door being there before. I didn’t remember really much of anything before I’d fallen asleep– only my room that continued to grow darker and darker. I’d fallen asleep to dream of more darkness, and really I hadn’t expected to wake up again. If I’d ever really been awake ever in my life, that is.

Speaking of which, what had woken me now? Nothing here would have made a noise that I could tell. It hadn’t for the longest time. So what had changed?

The door, I thought.

Just then I heard it, and I jumped, startled. It was a knocking at the door. For some reason I felt fear fill me. Who could that be? What did they want? Whoever they were, they were where the light was coming from, and I didn’t really want my room or myself to get exposed by it. But still the person knocked. It wasn’t a hard, angry knock. Nor was it a timid knock. It was the knocking you’d expect a friend to make who knew you were inside and wanted to be there for you, comfort you, talk to you.

But I had no friends. Who could it possibly be? I considered just falling back asleep, but curiosity was soon overcoming my complacency and my fears. Perhaps I would just open the door a crack, see who it was, and then just ask them to go away. Besides, my room wasn’t really in any state to be entertaining guests.

I stood up, moved my foot, and instantly tripped over something. I crashed to the floor, getting a mouthful of dust. I coughed and spluttered, my arms and legs stinging from making contact with objects on the floor. I really had been sleeping a long time. I had no idea what was in my room anymore and there had to be piles of dust everywhere. I wasn’t going to get to the door without bringing danger to myself. I should just try to return to bed. It was safer there.

“Do not give up, Violet.”

I started. The voice had come from the door– a gentle, beautiful voice. And somehow he knew what I’d been thinking. “How do you know me?” I asked.

“I was there at the beginning,” he said simply. “Please, come to the door.”

“But I’ll get hurt,” I said.

“I will guide your feet. First, stand up.”

How is he going to guide my feet? I can’t see anything and he isn’t even in here, I thought. But I decided to try. I had a growing desire to see this man. I stood up.

“Good. Now, turn left and take three steps.”

I turned and walked three steps, convinced I was going to trip again, but I didn’t. He continued to direct me, the path weaving this way and that, but I never once stumbled. Finally I made it to the door. I felt for the door handle. I hesitated. “I’ve never been exposed to a lot of light,” I said, trembling. “Can you make it go away?”

“Violet, if the light goes away, I go with it. Trust me, when all things are made clear then you will know the joy of the truth.”

I didn’t understand. I closed my eyes and pulled open the door.

It didn’t matter that my eyes were closed, I could see everything perfectly. My shivering, frail, pale body sunk to the ground in fear. The man standing before me wasn’t surrounded with light– he was the light. His hair was white as wool, his eyes burning with fire, his robe tied with a golden sash. The brightness of him drove all the darkness away to reveal the dirtiness of my room, and I felt ashamed.

He reached down and touched me. I flinched, but his hand was gentle and kind. In his palm was a strange, round wound. He spoke again to me in his beautiful voice. “Do not fear, my child. I have come to make all things new.”

He lifted me up from the ground, wrapping a protective arm around my shoulders. For the first time I felt like I was safe, like I was in the presence of a good man, a friend. I trusted him. “Open your eyes,” he said softly.

I did so. My dirty place of abode had been transformed into a room fit for a princess, full of gold and jewels. I looked down at myself. I had been clothed in a beautiful dress. “I don’t deserve any of this,” I said.

“You deserve it,” he said, “because I love you. Now, let us sit and eat together.”

There was a table in the room, filled with a variety of food. All I wanted to do was sit with him, eat with him, and talk with him for all eternity.

And that is what we did.

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” ~Revelation 3:20

“But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible. That is why it is said: ‘Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” ~Ephesians 5:14

“Since then you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” ~ Colossians 3:1-5

My Cry

Dearest
LORD
My Father
My Savior
My Counselor
I need some
Comfort
Right now
A desperation
A fear
And anxiety
Has laid hold
Its cold clutches
On me
What will
The morrow bring?
What will
My eyes see?
Oh LORD
Please be
With me!
~
This heart
Inside me
Has always been
A little weak
Beats hard at
The sound of
Negativity
Whether it’s true
Or just an
Illusion
I grow faint
I wanna hide
LORD, will You
Be with me?
Hold me close
Help me show
Mercy
Help them all show
Mercy
One to the
Other
~
My Father
My Savior
My Counselor
Mercy is my
Desire
Day to day
Hour to hour
Wisdom and truth
Please be there
With me
My Father
My Savior
My Counselor

(This was a prayer when I felt deep need for comfort and help. God was indeed with me the next day. I hope you are encouraged)

Psalm 28
6 Blessed be the Lord!
For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him.
8 The Lord is the strength of his people;2
he is the saving refuge of his anointed.
9 Oh, save your people and bless your heritage!
Be their shepherd and carry them forever.
