Proverbs:Boast In God

“5Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. 7Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. 8This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. 9Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; 10then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” ~Proverbs 3

Where is wisdom?

Where is honor?

Is your heart of gold?

Where is boasting?

Where are praises due?

Could it be you?

Could it be you?

.

Lift up

Lift up

Your eyes to the Heavens!

Lift up

Lift up

Your heart to the hills!

Raise your voice

To your God

Your Creator!

Lift it high

.

The fear of the Lord

Is wisdom

The honor of the Lord

Is His own

Your heart is made of gold

The strength of the Lord

Is where I will boast

The praises of the Lord

Are due Him

Are due Him

.

Lift it up

Lift it up

His ways will keep you from evil!

Lift it up

Lift it up

His ways will give you strength!

Raise your voice

To your God

Your Creator!

Lift it high

Lift up

Lift up

Your heart to the hills!

Lift up

Lift up

Your eyes to the sky

~

Jeremiah 9

‘23This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, 24but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.’

2 Corinthians 10

“16so that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you. For we do not want to boast about work already done in someone else’s territory. 17But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” 18For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.”

Job 28:28

“And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.’”

Isaiah 66:14

“Then you will see this, and your heart will be glad, And your bones will flourish like the new grass; And the hand of the LORD will be made known to His servants, But He will be indignant toward His enemies.”

Sermon on the Mount: Faithful to God

1“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” ~Matthew 6

What is our need

To feel needed?

What is gained

When we feel strained

To please men instead of God?

I admit I want to feel special

As people look at what I’ve done

But in the end it is worthless without

My God

.

Have faith

In Jesus

Let Him be glorified

Whether you’re seen

Whether you hide

Have faith

In Jesus

I want to hear Him say

.

I want you to know

I’m so godly

Can you tell I am fasting

Do I need to suffer more?

I can’t help

That poor man

He’s hiding in the alley

Who could see me helping there?

Where is the love we are to show

One another?

Where is the life we were meant to live?

Do you desire God’s glory?

.

Have faith

In Jesus

Let Him be glorified

Whether you’re seen

Whether you hide

Have faith

In Jesus

I want to hear Him say

.

“Good

And faithful servant

You were faithful with little

And much

Good

And faithful servant

I saw what you did

When no one else could”

That’s what I long to hear

I want to be that servant

That’s what I long to see

Him in Heaven smiling at me

16″Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” ~Matthew 5

14“For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. 15To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. 16He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. 17So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. 18But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master’s money. 19Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here I have made five talents more.’ 21His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ ~Matthew 25

“26Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” ~James 1

Matthew 23:5

“Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long;

Acts 3:12-13, 16

When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus…16By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.”

My Pain, Your Pain, The LORD

For a loved one

Trust
Trust in the LORD
If I have none
Then in what can I trust?

I know
There seems to be
Pain around
Every
Single
Corner
I know
There seems to be
No end to
The
Enemie’s
Stabs
But in the end
All I can say is
“Glory to God”
Even when I
See
No
Glory

The Word
Believe what the Word says
If I do not have it
Then what really can I
Hold onto?

I know
There seems to be
No deliverance
God’s
Forgotten
Me
I know
There seems to be
A constant
Gnawing
At
My
Soul
But in the end
The truth of the Word
Is the only thing
I can cling to
All I can do
Is
Wait
On
The
LORD

Do not reject the LORD
My child
Do not reject Him
What do you have left?
Do not spurn His Words
My friend
Do not spurn it
To what can you now cling?
I know you don’t understand
And neither do I
But if you believe God is there
And that His word is right in everything
Then why turn your back on Him now
When you most desperately need Him?
He knows all
He is over all
And in all things
He will be glorified
And His people sanctified
And His church purified
And His Name praise
“As for me and my house
We
Will
Serve
The
LORD!”
~

“9We are given no signs from God;
no prophets are left,
and none of us knows how long this will be.
10How long will the enemy mock you, God?
Will the foe revile your name forever?
11Why do you hold back your hand, your right hand?
Take it from the folds of your garment and destroy them

12But God is my King from long ago;
he brings salvation on the earth.” ~ Psalm 74

When the people of Israel were being oppressed and they cried out to God in Psalm 74, they didn’t merely say, “Act God!” or “Save us!”. And it wasn’t as if they didn’t feel rejected. But the point is that they still acknowledged God as God and wanted Him to be honored. They knew that it was His honor that was at stake, not their own annihilation.

When we’re in pain, do we reject God? When we feel crushed, do we trust His Word? His Word promises pain and not that we will always be pulled away from it. Do we believe Psalm 91 when it says “He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be you shield and rampart.” ? Do we believe Romans 8:28-30 when it says that God works all things for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose; these people He predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son; these people He called, whom He also justified, whom He also glorified? Do we believe these things when pain is strong? Do we believe that God is good all of the time?

Because if we do not believe in His word, how can we trust Him? And if we cannot trust Him, then in what can we trust?

“Trust in the Lord
With all your heart
And lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways
Acknowledge Him
And He will make your paths straight.” ~ Proverbs 3:5-6

Straight into His arms.

My Freedom: God’s Presence

Who comes
Into the presence
Of the Most Holy?
He has hands
Free of the stain
The awful drippings
Of blood
They are clean
Of malice and greed
No lie is marked
On the skin
He carries his offering
Without guilt or shame
He honors
The LORD

Who comes
Into the presence
Of the Most Holy?
He has lips
That drip honey
The fruit of the
Sweet nectar
Of wisdom
Knowledge
And truth
His tongue is free
Of any fire of sin
He can sing
Without guilt or shame
He honors
The LORD

Who comes
Into the presence
Of the Most Holy?
He is clothed
In garments pure white
That shine with the brightness
Of the Father’s face
Adorned in gold
Jewels
Majesty
He is free to stand there
Without guilt or shame
He honors
The LORD

“This is My Son
In Him I am pleased.”

“1It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” ~Galatians 5:1a

“Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to what is false
and does not swear deceitfully.
5 He will receive blessing from the Lord
and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah” ~Psalm 24

“1What I am saying is that as long as an heir is underage, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. 2The heir is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. 3So also, when we were underage, we were in slavery under the elemental spiritual forces of the world. 4But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. 6Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” 7So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.” ~Galatians 4
