My Son

My light
Shines on you
And wakens up
New life
Your heart beats
Anew
And away with
Death and strife
I broke apart
Your heart of stone
And planted there
My righteous
Throne
Come to Me
Breathe and live
~
My voice
Calls out to you
And brings to you
Redemption
Your ears hear life
Anew
And clings to the ways
Of salvation
I burned away all
That was false in you
And echo in your mind
All that is true
Come to Me
Confess and live
~
Breathe in My breath
And look on My light
Drink in My words
Let it in and live
Confess My Son as LORD
~
Confess My Son as LORD
Let Him in and live
Drink His words at His feet
And look on His face
Breathe Him in and out
~
Confess Jesus Christ and live

My Mouth

I am full
Full to the brim
I am full
Full of all that is dim
My heart is full
Full of every dark thing
My mouth is full
Full of anything
~
My heart is very proud
My mouth thinks it out loud
My heart is very sly
Will I speak blessing or words that die?
I speak from the bitterness deep in my soul
My soul is empty and dark, a meaningless hell hole
I am nothing in thought, word, or deed
I give in so easily to my greed
~
There He is
My master
There He is
He has the right to bring me to disaster
There He is
At the table
He’s the only one who can remove from me this label
He’s done it so many times for others
Will He do it for sins as great as my own?
~
Where does my mouth belong?
Kissing the feet of Jesus Christ
Where does my heart belong?
Pouring out completely on Jesus Christ
A sinner am I
I shed my tears
I am filled to the brim with fears
~
And then my master speaks…
“Your many sins have been forgiven
Go in peace, sin no more
Your many sins have been forgiven
Go in peace, love as you’ve been loved.”
~
Oh what words!
They are so sweet to me
Oh what joy!
Sweeter than honey are they!
I who sinned much
Have been forgiven much
And what great love
Transforms this wicked heart of mine
Overflows me to the brim
And goes forth from my mouth
“I will boast only in the LORD!
I will boast only in the LORD!
I will boast only in the LORD!”

’36When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. 37A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.

39When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”

40Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”

“Tell me, teacher,” he said.

41“Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii,c and the other fifty. 42Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”

43Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.”

“You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.

44Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”

48Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

49The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

50Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”‘ ~Luke 7:36-50

’30But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, 31so that, just as it is written, “LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD.”’ ~ 1 Corinthians 1:30-31

My Pride

Thought I’d given it all to You

Thought I was willing to rise or fall

Thought I’d be ready to praise You

Even if You said to me “Not right now”.

~

Well it came

The answer I dreaded

The fear I’ll remain the same

I still don’t know where I’m headed

I thought I got over it

Reasonably well

But I refused to speak to You after it

As if this made it worth going to Hell

~

Oh! Foolishness!

The result of my pride

Oh! Deadness!

The result when I hide

Tis true, LORD, I feel wounded

Your sword struck deep

But trials are where faith is founded

Growth from a ram to a pure white sheep

Yes, I am wounded, LORD

But I will not be ashamed

Mold me, shape me, make me

Into the image of Your Son

Into the image of Your Son

No matter what it takes

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.  For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.  And those He predestined He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.”

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?  As it is written: ‘For your sake we face death al day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.’  No in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

(Romans 8:28-30, 35-39, NIV)
